CULTURAL EXHIBITIONS: Dante's Tuesday

The Rome Branch organises weekly meetings on topics of general interest and cycles of conferences dealing with the same subject all through the academic year. Concerts of classical music, presentations of books and guided visits to places of particular interest are expected. The cultural meetings usually take place at 5 p.m. in the Galleria del Primaticcio of the glamorous Palazzo Firenze, seat of the Dante Alighieri Society.

In order to spread even more the cultural activities of the ‘Dante Alighieri’ we ask for the active participation of all those who have an interest in our meetings, through suggestions and ideas as well as the attendance to the social life of the ‘Dante’.

After doing large and meaningful soundings to the heart of the different European cultures and after the results concerning the deep reception of Dantesque poetry in Occident, during this year we will direct our research to wider horizons.

We will involve the Latin America, the Far East, the United States, the Afro-American culture inclusive, which very often resorted to the Dantesque stimulation to defend its own identity. And then the Black Africa, a continent in a continuous and rapid cultural redemption, the Middle East, stifled and devastated by wars which the persuasive Dantesque word could be able to rationalize, the Brazilian area whose cultural roots refer to the western universe, starting from Portuguese culture, and finally Argentine, a wide and boundless area, rich in intuitive reactions and human and civil passion, also for the great amount of Italian immigrates who after generations are living and operating in this land sensitive to such cultural solicitations.

Stimulations and perceptions as a whole which will help to offer an even more complete description of the successful criticism – and not only - of the unequalled Dantesque word.
The project is edited by the Superintendent of Audit of the ‘Dante’ Walter Mauro and by the Vice President of the Rome Branch Lucia Caravale.
